saturate [sach′ə rāt΄; ] for adj., usually [, sach′ərit]
vt.
saturated, saturating [< L saturatus, pp. of saturare, to fill up, saturate < satur, full; akin to satis: see SAD]
1. to cause to be thoroughly soaked, imbued, or penetrated
2. to cause (something) to be filled, charged, supplied, etc. with the maximum that it can absorb
3. Chem.
a) to cause (a substance) to combine to the full extent of its combining capacity with another; neutralize
b) to dissolve the maximum amount of (a gas, liquid, or solid) in a solution at a given temperature and pressure
